Stress-free walks

Chillba originated from a personal necessity:

The fear of encountering the neighbour's dog that my dog really hates - her "chillba" - during our walks, or the disappointment of arriving at an empty dog park with nobody to play with.

I therefore envisioned an app that could instantly reveal the whereabouts of neighborhood dogs during walks.

Market Research

The perfect match

I evaluated two categories of apps/devices:

1. Dog locator collars

2. Community dog’s apps

I identified 3 user’s common pain points:

Price

Most Dog locator collars are GPS based and generally expensive - From $70 to several hundred dollars

Air Tag is the most budget - friendly choice - only 30$

Battery life

battery life in GPS-based dog collars varying from a few hours to three months

Air Tag battery life should last up to a year

Finding the right partner to play with

Users often express difficulty in finding suitable playmates for their dogs

sharing the dog's real-time location enables users to discover their dog playmates effortlessly

Based on the app reviews that I read I also came to the following conclusions:

GPS-based collars are ideal for outdoor usage, especially in open areas without smartphone support for Bluetooth technology

Air Tag excels in urban environments, utilizing the proximity of other users' smartphones for improved tracking

The integration of the tracking collar (Bluetooth based) into a social platform for dog owners could be a perfect match and offer added value

Off mode zone

Protecting user privacy

In potential user interviews, there were concerns for privacy when users were at home.

'Off Mode’ comes to eliminate this concern. when a user sets his home address, it becomes automatically an 'Off Mode' area for a radius of 350 meters, where they can't be geo-located.
