This application was developed for the JNF's (Jewish National Fund) grazing inspectors, who predominantly work in the field, to enhance communication both with the office and shepherds, as well as to manage inventory and field logistics.
In this project, I worked as the sole UX|UI designer.
The planting and management of forests in Israel, under the supervision of the JNF, involves seasonal grazing to reduce forest combustibles and lower the risk of fires.
JNF hires shepherds for this purpose, and provides them essential equipment for living with their herd in various locations on a seasonable basis.
The app was developed in response to the JNF's need to streamline communication between inspectors, shepherds and the office.
Data was previously centralized in an Excel sheet
Inspectors spend their workday in the fields making it impractical to rely on this kind of tool
The goal was to take the information from the excel sheets and make it an effective work tool for the inspectors:
JNF grazing excel sheets
The app provides shepherds' location tracking
The app gives the inspector quick access to the shepherd's information and logistical requirements.
The inspector can sign various contracts and authorize actions directly within the application
The inspector can measure geographical data and streamline logistical requests directly to the office
The app coordinates between the office, field and the various branches of the supply chain
I received detailed technical specifications and general guidance from the product manager regarding the info needed from all the superfluous data.
My main goal was to make the app's use as simple as possible
To assist the inspector in prioritizing tasks, the home screen of the app offers two display options:
The map view enables rapid locating of shepherds in the field, ensuring efficient fieldwork.
The task list view facilitates quick prioritization, aiding the inspector in planning and organizing daily activities with eas
The default option, allowing the inspector to easily visualize the shepherds in his area. Additionally, the inspector can quickly identify any alerts or tasks associated with a specific shepherd
With the message option view, the inspector can easily access recent messages or alerts concerning shepherds in their designated area
Clicking on the Shepherd pin map will bring the defaulted shepherd card
Expanded shepherd card
Add file drawer
The inspector can measure the area before sending a new requirement
And then detail the equipment needed
The office receives and reviews the requests, approving them before forwarding to the appropriate suppliers.
In addition, it maintains a centralized list of shepherds, allowing for updates such as additions or removals as needed.
